Look First
We review the file before quoting the work. Depth of the problem varies enormously and scoping blind serves nobody.
Home/Services/Bookkeeping/Catch-Up And Cleanup Bookkeeping
Three months or three years, we start from where the record actually is and rebuild it period by period. No lecture attached.
This is the single most common reason owners call. Something got busy, a provider stopped answering, a season ran long, and the books quietly stopped being current. Nobody plans it and almost everybody it happens to assumes they are the only one.
The first thing we do is find out what is actually there. Not what should be there, what is. Then we rebuild forward from the last point the record can be trusted, reconciling as we go, so every period we hand back is one you can rely on.
Undeposited funds sitting in a holding account for a year. Owner draws recorded as expenses. Loan payments booked entirely as interest, or entirely as principal. Transfers between accounts counted twice as income. Vendors entered five different ways so no report can total them.
None of it is unusual and none of it is a character flaw. It is what happens when a file is maintained under pressure by someone who was never shown the pattern. Fixing it is mechanical work, and it goes faster than most owners expect once it starts.

Which periods get rebuilt, what gets corrected, and what is left alone, all agreed in writing before the work starts.
Period by period in order, with reconciliation at each step, so we are never carrying an error forward into the next month.
A cleanup with no plan behind it puts you back in the same position in eighteen months. Most clients move straight into a monthly or quarterly cycle once the history is straight, because the hard part is already done and keeping it current is the cheap part.
If you would rather keep the books yourself from there, we will hand back a file that is genuinely in order and show you the handful of habits that keep it that way.
What clients most often pair with this, and the category it belongs to.
The first conversation is about your business and where it stands, not a pitch.
