Start Before You Need To
Financing conversations arrive on somebody else's schedule. A file kept ready year round is not a luxury, it is the difference between weeks and months.
Home/Services/Accounting And Financial Reporting/Compiled Financial Statements For Loans
When a bank, a lender or an investor asks for compiled statements, they are really asking whether your numbers hold together.
A lending conversation has two subjects, and only one of them is your business. The other is whether your financial information can be relied on. Whichever of those the lender is still thinking about is the one that decides the outcome.
Statements compiled from a reconciled record settle the second question quickly, which is the point. The meeting moves on to what you do and why the plan makes sense.
Experienced reviewers scan for coherence before they read for detail. Do the statements agree with each other. Does the balance sheet movement match the profit. Are there accounts with names that hide rather than describe.
Files that fail that scan get more questions, longer timelines and more conditions. Files that pass it get read on their merits. Very little of that is about how well the business is doing.
Financing conversations arrive on somebody else's schedule. A file kept ready year round is not a luxury, it is the difference between weeks and months.
Every set of statements has a line somebody will ask about. Knowing which one, and having the answer ready, changes the tone of the meeting.
Changing how something is presented between periods invites a question you do not want to spend the meeting answering.
A compilation presents financial information in the standard form, prepared from the records the business provides. It is not an audit and it is not a review, and we are clear about that with everyone who asks for it.
Where a lender requires a higher level of assurance than a compilation, we will tell you plainly and help you get the file into a state where that engagement goes smoothly with whoever performs it.
The reports and engagements that usually sit alongside this one.
The first conversation is about your business and where it stands, not a pitch.
